Community clean-up campaign to tackle persistent littering

The Keep Torfaen Tidy Spring Clean, supported by Keep Wales Tidy, will take place across Torfaen with events running from Wednesday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 24.
Volunteers are encouraged to join organised litter picks in areas including Cwmbran and Pontypool.
Mandy Owen, councillor and executive member for the environment at Torfaen County Borough Council, said: “Spring Clean is a perfect example of the Torfaen Deal in action.
“It’s an opportunity for individuals and groups to improve their local environment using kit provided by the council and partners.”
Last year’s effort resulted in 68 bags of litter and 13 bags of recycling being collected.
Councillor Owen said: “Let’s see if we can beat it this year.”
Meet-up points include Northville car park in Cwmbran (March 11), Cwmbran Boating Lake, (March 13) Cold Barn Farm Community Centre (March 16), Garn Lakes car park (March 19), and Halo Pontypool Leisure Centre (March 24).
All locations are accessible for people with mobility issues.
Litter picking equipment will be provided, but volunteers are advised to bring gloves, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate clothing.
Events will run from 10am to 2pm.
