Strong gusty winds expected for daytime Friday

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Overnight tonight will be on the calmer side, with temperatures expected to be near freezing by Friday morning.

Winds could gust to 45-55 mph throughout the day Friday

Winds will begin picking up stronger throughout the day Friday, with the strongest winds expected around the early-mid afternoon. The 45-55 mph winds could cause downed trees and powerlines, which could also lead to power outages around the region. A wind advisory will be in affect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, as winds will start calming down getting into Friday night.

The weekend will be a little calmer, with Saturday hovering in the mid-50s, followed by the low 70s on Sunday in front of our next cold front coming in Monday morning, which will be accompanied by a round of rain and possibly snow.

The current timeframe for the rain is Monday mid morning-early afternoon, followed by another quick cold snap heading into Tuesday, with temperatures falling back into the 20s and 30s.

The good news is, we will gradually warm back up heading into the second half of next week.
