5 things to know about new Packers CB Benjamin St-Juste

GREEN BAY – The Packers have signed veteran cornerback Benjamin St-Juste as a free agent.
Here are five things to know about Green Bay’s new addition to the secondary:
- He’s played five seasons in the NFL, three as a full-time starter.
The 28-year-old St-Juste was drafted in the third round by Washington in 2021 with the No. 74 overall pick, and he spent four years with the Commanders before signing with the Chargers last year.
Over those five seasons, St-Juste (6-3, 200) has played in 70 games with 47 starts and recorded 243 tackles, 41 passes defensed, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and three sacks.
Forty-two of those 47 starts came in the three-year stretch from 2022-24 with Washington, playing more than 2,500 defensive snaps in that time. He posted a career-high and team-leading 17 passes defensed in 2023, including his first career INT, which came against current Packers backup QB Desmond Ridder, then with Atlanta.
- He played well in a more limited role last year.
Joining the Chargers as a free agent in 2025, St-Juste was reunited with his first college coach at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh (St-Juste later transferred to Minnesota).
He played in 16 games, mostly in a reserve/sub-package role as he started just two contests, but in 356 snaps he allowed a passer rating of just 68.3 when targeted, according to Pro Football Reference. That’s his single-season career best in that category.
He also got his second career INT when he picked off Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in the third quarter to set up a Chargers TD in a game L.A. eventually won by two points.
- He’s been rather durable lately.
St-Juste has missed just two games over the last three seasons, playing in 53 of a possible 55 contests, including playoffs. The one game he missed last season came in Week 17 due to a shoulder injury, but he returned for Week 18 and the postseason.
Earlier in his career, St-Juste spent time on injured reserve as a rookie in 2021 due to a concussion, and he missed a few late-season games in 2022 due to an ankle injury.
- He was also a Canadian Football League draft pick.
A native of Quebec, St-Juste grew up speaking French and learned English in pre-university school in Montreal. Following his college career at Michigan and Minnesota, he was selected in the sixth round of the CFL draft with the No. 52 overall pick.
- He should compete for a starting job in Green Bay.
Following the release of Nate Hobbs, the Packers top three boundary cornerbacks are Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine and St-Juste. Nixon is a likely starter on one side, but the second starting spot will likely be contested amongst Valentine, St-Juste and any other acquisitions via free agency and/or the draft.
