How Josh Naylor, Bo Naylor are related in pursuit of Canada upset at WBC

Two of the most important pieces for Team Canada at the World Baseball Classic are Josh Naylor and Bo Naylor.

They aren’t the only MLB players in Canada’s lineup, but they’re a pair of powerful left-handed bats that can deliver some thump. They’ll be crucial if Canada is to pull an upset of Team USA in the WBC quarterfinals.

This won’t be the first big game they play together. They had to beat Cuba in the pool play finale just to qualify for the knockout rounds.

Now, the Naylors will try to achieve some history together.

Are Josh and Bo Naylor related?

Yes, Josh Naylor and Bo Naylor are related. They’re brothers.

They actually played together with the Cleveland Guardians until the 2025 season, when Josh was first traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks (who then traded him to the Seattle Mariners in the middle of the year).

Bo remains the starting catcher for Cleveland.

Josh signed a five-year, $92 million contract to remain in Seattle this offseason.

Are there other Naylor brothers?

There’s actually a third Naylor brother in professional baseball.

Myles hasn’t made it out of the minor leagues yet, but he’s younger than Josh and Bo. He’s in the system of the Athletics.

Maybe someday, three Naylor brothers will be a part of the same Canadian national team lineup.
