A WWE star has announced that he has “quit” the company during tonight’s March 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
UPDATE – Drew McIntyre returned to SmackDown later in the show to cost Jacob Fatu his match against Trick Williams. McIntyre will face Fatu in a match next week.
There has been a big development tonight following what was a major story coming out of last week’s SmackDown show.
Last week, Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to become the Undisputed WWE Champion and head into WrestleMania 42 with the title.
Rhodes’ win means he will defend the championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania, changing the originally announced match of McIntyre vs Orton after Orton’s Elimination Chamber win.
During SmackDown tonight, Drew McIntyre opened the show in a segment with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
Confronting Aldis about the decision to force him to defend his title last week, as well as venting his frustrations with Jacob Fatu for costing him the match, McIntyre announced that he had quit WWE.
McIntyre simply said that Aldis, Fatu and the fans don’t deserve him or any response from him for what’s been inflicted upon him recently, and therefore he’s quitting the company – before he walked away and left through the crowd.
What Drew McIntyre Said After Quitting WWE
WWE released a video on social media with new comments from Drew McIntyre as he was leaving the arena on SmackDown after the announcement that he quit the company.
He said:
“You give and you give and you give, you bleed – if I fought Jacob right there, the only person that wins is them (the fans). They take, they take, they take. We give, we give, we give. I’m giving no more. I f**king quit.”

Did Drew McIntyre Really Quit WWE
The announcement of Drew McIntyre quitting WWE is not real and is just a storyline, and it actually isn’t the first time McIntyre has ‘quit’ the company in a similar situation.
In 2024, he ‘quit’ WWE on Raw after CM Punk cost him a World Heavyweight Championship match against Damian Priest at Clash In The Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
WWE does have the option to explain that McIntyre ‘quit’ SmackDown but could make appearances on Raw instead, but at least as of now, that was not specified, so fans are expected to believe he has quit entirely.
The expectation since WWE changed plans to a match between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton at WrestleMania was that McIntyre and Fatu would split off into their own separate match at the event.
There had been talk that the WWE Title match could become a multi-man match involving all four men, but that wasn’t the case as of the latest backstage plans.
