Avalanche Game 65 at Winnipeg Jets: Matinee Hockey! Lines, Notes & How To Watch

The Colorado Avalanche (44-11-9) close out a two-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets (26-28-10). Puck drop is scheduled for 2:08 p.m. MT.
Key Stories to Watch
- Colorado plays yet another early afternoon game, this time on the road against a Winnipeg team attempting a last-ditch effort to qualify for a playoff spot. The Jets are seven points out of the last wildcard spot with five teams between them and an opportunity to likely play the Avs in the first round of the postseason.
- The Avs dressed seven defensemen against the Kraken in their last game, which allowed Nick Blankenburg to make his Avalanche debut. It’s unclear if Jared Bednar is going to make any changes to the lineup. Outside of a Ross Colton return or a late call-up, it’ll likely be the same 18 skaters against Winnipeg.
- Given that Scott Wedgewood has finished four of the last five games, we may see Mackenzie Blackwood back between the pipes. Before this stretch, Blackwood had played six of seven games for the Avs. The early start and a lack of a morning skate mean we won’t have confirmation on the starter until closer to puck drop.
- This is the first of three meetings remaining against Winnipeg, tying the Calgary Flames for the most common opponent the Avalanche will face in the final 18 games of the regular season. Colorado defeated the Jets 3-2 at Ball Arena in December.
