These 2 savings accounts are still offering over 10% — and 7 more with at least a 5% APY

The national average savings account rate sits at 0.39% APY, according to the most recent FDIC data. Sigh. The good news? Many high-yield savings accounts are offering rates much higher — think 4-5% APY and up. (You can see some of the highest savings account rates here from our ad partner Bankrate.)

Rates vary a lot between banks, and “each bank will take its own approach to rate pricing, with some adjusting quickly and others taking a more measured approach,” says Brian Swanson, president, Consumer Bank at Axos Bank.

Furthermore, you will need to look at more than just the rate when figuring out where to park your savings. “Overall transparency, strong customer service, and easy access to funds have always been hallmarks of a good banking relationship, and the same thing applies to high-yield savings accounts,” says Swanson.
