U.S. Tops Czechia, 6-1, Advancing To Gold Medal Game

Farmer scored the first of six unanswered goals for Team USA 10:26 into the first period to knot the game at 1-1. Farmer swept in a rebound off Travis Dodson’s (Deming, N.M.) initial shot. With the goal, Farmer set a new single-tournament goals and points record. 

The U.S. extended its lead in the middle frame putting two goals past Czech netminder Patrik Sedlacek in 19 seconds to open a 3-1 lead heading into the final frame. After a shot from Farmer went wide, David Eustace(Stoneham, Mass.) backhanded the rebound at the net, bouncing the puck off Sedlacek’s glove for the second goal of the game, before Eustace set up Farmer with a cross-ice pass as he lifted the puck high for the third score of the game. 

Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.) opened the scoring early in the third period, beating the goaltender on a low shot sent in from the slot for the fourth tally of the game. 

Farmer added his third of the game with 7:08 remaining in the third. With the teams each playing four a side, Farmer received the puck up by the blue line, cutting through the defense before tapping in the goal around an outstretched goaltender. 

Team USA’s final goal of the game came off a power-play score from Noah Grove (Frederick, Md.) with 6:11 remaining in the final frame. Grove received the puck at the faceoff dot from Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) going to his forehand before snaking a shot right inside the post to give the U.S. a commanding 6-1 victory. 

Griffin LaMarre (Haverhill, Mass.) made four saves in net.

NOTES: The U.S. outshot Czechia, 41-5 … Team USA was 1-3 on the power play, while Czechia was 1-1.
