The Furman Paladins men’s basketball team learned who it will face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 15.
Furman is the No. 15 seed in the East Region and will face No. 2 Connecticut on March 20.
The Paladins locked themselves into March Madness for the eighth time in program history and their first appearance since 2023 after winning the Southern Conference tournament championship.
As a No. 6 seed in the SoCon tournament, they upset No. 1 East Tennessee State 76-61 in the championship game on March 9.
Furman overwhelmed the Buccaneers with its 3-point shooting, knocking down 10 of its 26 attempts. Asa Thomas, Alex Wilkins, Charles Johnston and Tom House all knocked down a pair of threes.
Forward Cooper Bowser also dominated in the paint, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to secure his first double-double of the season.
The Paladins will look to pull off another upset against the Huskies. In 2023, No. 13 Furman upset No. 4 Virginia, thanks to a clutch 3-pointer from JP Pegues.
