Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated Netflix casino series has become an unexpected draw for celebrities eager to see PJ Schulte join the cast.

The untitled drama, set in modern-day Las Vegas, marks Scorsese’s return to the world of high-stakes gambling 30 years after his 1995 film Casino.

The eight-episode series, created by Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien, has generated significant buzz since its announcement. Julie and Rick Yorn join Koppelman and Levien as part of a superstar-lined production team. Schulte recently addressed the casting enthusiasm during an interview with The Hollywood Fix. When asked about the celebrity backing, Schulte acknowledged the support.

“A lot of those guys are my friends and clients. I told one of them about it and I think a bunch of them saw it on the explore page and started jumping in and just supported me and showed love.”

Among the vocal supporters was superstar boxer Ryan Garcia and social media star Adam Waheed.

“Got to get PJ starring in this!!” Garcia (@kingryan) posted. Adam Waheed (@adamw) added, “Need to cast my guy PJ @italian for this!!”

“@italian is the one!!! PJ would be perfect for this!!! Let’s get him in there,” celebrity lawyer E5quire (@e5quire) added.

Social media star Jayline Ojeda (@jailyneojeda) added, “They need @italian in this show!”

When presented with the opportunity, Schulte expressed genuine interest.

“That would be a dream come true,” he said. Pressed on his availability, he elaborated on his current work, “I’m doing a lot of projects on the producing side and management, but this is like a secret passion of mine and I’m really hitting those late-night classes, staying sharp. I’m just staying ready for whatever.”

Schulte also praised the creative team behind the project.

“the GOAT,” he said. “I love Scorsese. There’s a lot of other talented people on the project as well. David Levien and Brian Koppelman—they’re the showrunners of Billions. Julie and Rick Yorn are great producers.”

The Netflix series, which centers on Robert Bobby Red Redman, president of the hottest hotel casino in Las Vegas, draws from a concept Julie and Rick Yorn brought to the streaming platform with longtime collaborator Scorsese.

It differs from the 1995 “Casino,” which starred Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci.

Regarding his personal relationship with gambling, Schulte said, “I’m around it a lot, but I try not to get involved with it too much.”

Looking ahead, Schulte hinted at other ventures in development.

“We might be doing a documentary and maybe a big film for Ryan Garcia coming up soon,” he said, referencing the boxer’s recent championship victory.
