Good evening and welcome to commentary of Portsmouth
against Derby County at Fratton Park as both teams have been able to enjoy that
rare commodity in the cut and thrust of a Championship season – time.
Well, a little bit more time, because while their rivals in
the division were in action on Friday and Saturday, Johns Mousinho and Eustace
were afforded an additional day or two on the training pitch following their respective fixtures
last Tuesday.
That no doubt will have aided preparations for tonight but
has also provided each team with a pretty conclusive picture as to what is
required, depending on their respective aims for the campaign.
For Derby, wins for Southampton and Wrexham mean three
points will help them keep touch with the top six, while those of a blue persuasion
watched events on Saturday unfold with a degree of anguish as Blackburn somehow
won at Millwall and West Bromwich Albion stormed to victory against Hull.
About 11 months ago, this fixture produced one of the more
bonkers games in the Championship calendar, here’s hoping for more of the same!
