Power outage strikes over 2,000 in downtown Fall River amid high winds

FALL RIVER – A little over 2,000 people are without power in the central part of the city.

National Grid is reporting an outage that stretches along North Main Street from Government Center to President Avenue, and on South Main to Middle Street.

Included are parts of Columbia Street, Corky Row, the Bank Street area and parts of the Lower Highlands.

National Grid’s outage map says a crew is enroute with power estimated to be restored around 9 p.m.

It is unclear what caused the outage, but the region is under a high wind warning from the National Weather Service until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
