Kirby Dach may have played his last game in Montreal

Last night, Kirby Dach left the game after a collision that seemed perfectly routine. Old habits die hard: the Habs player seems unable to stay healthy.

The worst part is that his production isn’t at the level one would expect when he’s in the lineup.
After a stint with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, he returned to the third line and has just one point in March.

Has management had enough? Has he played his last game in Montreal? That’s the question Ben Roger and Greg Lanctot asked themselves on BPM Sports.

Roger believes that if he’s out for two or three weeks, he’ll never wear the Habs’ uniform again, while Lanctot thinks it’s not over yet.

With the surplus of forwards in Montreal, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dach sits out for a long time if he has to miss time. It’s clear that the supporting players will have to step up, but Dach isn’t untouchable in the lineup—far from it. In short, there’s a good chance he’s played his last game in Montreal.
It’s a shame for the player, but it’s really frustrating from the outside looking in. Dach has all the tools to be an excellent NHL player: he has the size, the skills, but he isn’t engaged enough, and he spends his time in the infirmary.

I don’t think Kent Hughes will bring him back next year. The general manager isn’t afraid to admit his mistakes, and I’m increasingly convinced that acquiring Dach was one of them.

– Knies is going to be expensive.
