Chargers free agency: LA hosting offensive lineman on visit

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Chargers are hosting free agent guard Spencer Burford for a visit.
Burford, a former fourth-round pick out of UTSA, spent the past four seasons with the 49ers, where he started 38 games. In the 2025 season, he played 11 games, earning a PFF run-blocking grade of 62.6 while allowing only two sacks across 458 offensive snaps.
Mike McDaniel’s offense, like San Francisco’s system, relies on an outside-zone run game that requires offensive linemen to move laterally with speed and athleticism, which Burford possesses.
If signed, Burford would likely compete for a starting guard spot or provide high-end depth.
Los Angeles has been active in reconstructing the interior part of the offensive line, signing center Tyler Biadasz and guard Cole Strange, and re-signing Trey Pipkins and Trevor Penning.
