The 24-year-old went back to the locker room after an awkward collision with Tre Johnson III, where Cunningham lunged for a loose ball and the Wizards guard hit his back.
Cunningham had six points, two rebounds and a steal on 2-of-3 shooting before leaving the court.
The two-time all-star has been a driving force in Detroit’s success this season, averaging 24.9 points, 10.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds over 60 games entering Tuesday’s action.
Detroit currently sits first in the Eastern Conference with a 48-19 record.
