Player Ratings: Manchester City 1 – 2 Real Madrid

Thibaut Courtois — 8
Produced four important saves in the first half and commanded his area well, especially on set pieces. Could do little about the goal conceded. Forced off at halftime due to injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold — 5
A difficult night defensively. Jeremy Doku consistently caused him problems, and his distribution was below his usual standard.

Antonio Rüdiger — 6.5
Solid overall and brought leadership to the backline, but had a tougher time than usual containing Erling Haaland, who managed to get several shots off.

Dean Huijsen — 8
Outstanding under pressure. Registered 101 touches, completed passes at a 94.6% rate, and added six clearances. A composed and authoritative display.

Fran García — 7
Handled his side well against Rayan Cherki and contributed intelligently in attack, creating space through overlapping runs for Vinicius Jr.

Aurélien Tchouaméni — 8
Quietly excellent. Provided an assist and was crucial in both shielding the defense and helping Madrid control possession. A performance defined by balance and intelligence.

Thiago Pitarch — 6
At fault on City’s goal after being turned by Doku, and had a few heavy touches. Recovered well, though, contributing defensively and finding good positions between the lines.

Fede Valverde — 7.5
Could have scored early but failed to capitalize on a clear breakaway. Otherwise, he was instrumental in ball progression and provided key defensive support on the right flank.

Arda Güler — 8
Calm and composed throughout. Dropped deep to help circulation and should have had two assists after creating excellent chances for Vinicius Jr.

Brahim Díaz — 7.5
Lively and unpredictable. His dribbling repeatedly unsettled City’s defense, and he contributed solid defensive work as well.

Vinicius Jr — 7.5
A paradoxical performance. Scored both goals, including a composed penalty, but was wasteful in several key moments. Ultimately, his brace proved decisive.

Andriy Lunin — 8
Stepped in seamlessly after halftime. Made three crucial saves and showed great awareness by rushing off his line to stop a breakaway. The best backup goalkeeper in the world.

Kylian Mbappé — 7.5
Instant impact with his pace and directness. Appeared to be fouled in the box after beating City’s high line, but no penalty was awarded.

Eduardo Camavinga — 5
Struggled to find rhythm in his cameo. Looked unusually sluggish in possession.

Manuel Ángel — 6.5
Brought energy and intensity, working hard to disrupt City’s buildup in the second half.

Dani Carvajal — 6
Put in a hardworking shift, though a couple of clumsy touches prevented a cleaner performance.
