The M25 in Essex is closed clockwise after a crash involving three lorries which has caused a fuel spillage.
The road is closed between junction 27 for the M11 and junction 28 for the A12, near Brentwood.
All emergency services are in attendance, National Highways said.
The crash was first reported at 03:00 GMT, according to the traffic system Inrix.
