Yesavage has not faced live batters during spring training.

The 22-year-old Yesavage rocketed through the minor leagues, pitching at five levels, in 2025 all the way to the big leagues where he became a key component in the team’s run to the World Series.

In three regular season games, Yesavage was 1-0 with a 3.21 earned run average and 1.429 WHIP over 14.0 innings pitched. He struck out 16 batters and walked seven. He went on to start six postseason games, including two in the World Series. In the playoffs, Yesavage was 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA and 1.048 WHIP over 27.2 IP. He struck out 39 batters, including 11 alone in an American League Division Series game against the New York Yankees, and walked 11.

The Blue Jays open their season on Mar. 27 against the Athletics at Rogers Centre and are suddenly experiencing an injury crisis within the rotation. Jose Berrios will also start the season on IL with a stress fracture in his elbow, while Shane Bieber is also unavailable with forearm soreness. Bowden Francis is already out for the season, recovering from Tommy John surgery.
