Abdul Carter announces new jersey number

The second-year outside linebacker will wear No. 3, which coincides with him being the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While donning No. 51 for his rookie campaign, Carter played in all 17 games (six starts) and recorded 43 total tackles, 23 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

His 23 quarterback hits led all rookies in 2025. They were also the most by a Giants rookie ever and tied for the sixth-most among all NFL rookies since 2006. Carter, who was a finalist for Associated Press NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, also set a Giants rookie record with at least a share of a sack in four consecutive games.

Carter, the 15th unanimous All-American in Penn State history, wore No. 11 in college. Before that, he was No. 22 at La Salle College High School outside of Philadelphia.

Quarterback Russell Wilson, who is a free agent, wore No. 3 for the Giants last season.
