Dhurandhar 3 release confirmed? Aditya Dhar’s comment triggers speculation as Dhurandhar 2 takes box offic

The conversation around Dhurandhar 3 has picked up quickly, and this time it is not coming out of nowhere. It started with filmmaker Aditya Dhar himself, whose recent remarks before the release of Dhurandhar 2 are now being read very differently after the film’s strong opening. Before the sequel hit theatres, Aditya Dhar had asked audiences to stay back till the very end of the film. In his note to fans, he wrote, “Don’t leave your seats until the credits have stopped rolling.”
At that point, it looked like a simple request. But now, after the film’s release, many viewers believe it could be hinting at something bigger, possibly a continuation or a post-credit tease. This is not new for the franchise either, as the first film had also dropped subtle hints about what was coming next.
The director’s note itself had a reflective tone. He spoke about how audiences didn’t just watch the first film but connected with it deeply, even discovering layers he hadn’t originally planned. That idea of the story growing beyond him is now being linked to the possibility of a larger universe.
‘Mayhem’ title rumours gain traction
At the same time, speculation about the third part’s title has also surfaced online. A viral Reddit post claimed that Dhurandhar 3 could be called “Mayhem.”There is no official confirmation on this yet, but the name has caught attention because it fits the pattern. From Dhurandhar to The Revenge, the scale has clearly increased, and “Mayhem” suggests something even bigger and more chaotic.
For now, though, this remains purely speculative, with the makers yet to comment on it.
Dhar not in a rush for part 3
Interestingly, not all updates point towards an immediate follow-up. As per the X handle Always Bollywood, citing a source close to B62 Studios, Aditya Dhar has no plans to rush into the third film.
The tweet states: “#JioStudios had reportedly asked #AdityaDhar to drop a hint about #Dhurandhar3 in the end credits of #Dhurandhar2 and set up the third part as a cinematic universe. However, a close source from B62 Studios reveals that Aditya politely declined the idea. He reportedly doesn’t want to rush into a sequel for at least the next 4 years, believing that releasing another part too soon may look like a cheap tactic just to mint money.”
This suggests that while ideas may exist, the filmmaker is choosing patience over quick expansion. Right now, there is no official announcement for Dhurandhar 3.
Box office numbers fuel the hype
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2, led by Ranveer Singh, has opened to massive numbers. According to Sacnilk, the film collected around Rs 52.71 crore gross (Rs 44 crore net) from paid previews alone.
The scale of release played a big role here. The film reportedly had over 12,000 shows across the country, many of which were already houseful in advance. Even with higher ticket prices in several cities, demand stayed strong.
Trade reports say this is now the biggest paid preview collection for an Indian film, going past earlier benchmarks like Stree 2 and even Pawan Kalyan’s OG.
