Bill Murray made the trip to Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia for the Furman basketball game against UConn in the first round of the Men’s NCAA Tournament on March 20. He was spotted by the TBS camera crew early in the first half.

The actor is a well-documented UConn fan.

Why is Bill Murray at Furman vs. UConn?

Murray has been one of the most prominent celebrity fans of the Huskies. His son, Luke Murray, is an assistant coach on UConn coach Dan Hurley’s staff.

Luke Murray joined the Huskies coaching staff in 2021 and has been to five consecutive NCAA tournaments and is a two-time national champion.

Bill Murray was constantly shown during UConn’s championship runs in 2023 and 2024.

Billy Murray wasn’t always a UConn fan

Murray attended Regis University in Denver, a private Jesuit school. He grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and grew up a fan of the Fighting Illini.
