‘Dutton Ranch’ First Look Revealed: Watch a Teaser for the Yellowstone Spinoff About Beth and Rip
At long last, there’s news about the Yellowstone spinoff about Beth and Rip: Dutton Ranch will premiere this spring, on Friday, May 15.
Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in Dutton Ranch, premiering on Paramount+ on Friday, May 15 with two episodes. The next seven episodes will air weekly. (While Hauser said the show would not be called Dutton Ranch, it does, in fact, appear to be using that title.)
The story takes the Duttons to Texas; as the synopsis notes, “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together—far from the ghosts of Yellowstone—they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul.”
This is a change from the first reported synopsis for the series, which read, “The Dutton Ranch, home to Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, is a testament to the peace they sought, fought for, and nearly died for, as they’ve come to cherish their 7,000-acre ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.” It’s unclear how much of that plot is in the final version of the Yellowstone spinoff.
Alongside Reilly and Hauser, Dutton Ranch will star Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind. The first teaser trailer for the series dropped (set to a remix of “Til I Collapse” by Eminem), along with a first look at Dutton Ranch.
Last week, Greg Yaitanes, who directed the third and fourth episodes of Dutton Ranch, revealed that “it’s much more of a drama and a soap,” comparing the series to Marshals, the Luke Grimes-starring Yellowstone spinoff currently airing. “It has the best parts of what I loved about Yellowstone.” He added, “Dutton Ranch has more continuity of crew from the original series… A lot of the people involved with Dutton Ranch really felt like they were making Yellowstone Season 6. Marshals is much more genre and guns-forward and those kinds of cool things.”
