Miami R3 previews and predictions: Mensik vs. Tiafoe, Sinner vs. Moutet

Jakub Mensik continues his title defense in Miami with an intriguing third-round showdown against Frances Tiafoe on Monday. No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner is also back on the court, facing Corentin Moutet.
(19) Frances Tiafoe vs. (12) Jakub Mensik
Mensik and Tiafoe will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers when they meet in round two of the Miami Open on Monday. Their only previous encounter came right next door in Delray Beach one year ago, when Mensik won a Davis Cup rubber 6-1, 6-4 to clinch a spot in the finals for Czechia.
Shockingly, Mensik is the defending champion in Miami. The world No. 13 clinched the title with a 7-6(4), 7-6(4) upset of Novak Djokovic while also defeating Jack Draper, Arthur Fils, and Taylor Fritz. Mensik is playing well again in 2026, with a 15-5 record that includes a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Adam Walton on Saturday. Tiafoe dismissed Arthur Cazaux 7-6(1), 6-1 in his Miami opener, improving to 13-6 for the 2026 campaign. This should be a fun one, but their previous result and Mensik’s obviously love for Miami point to another victory for the Czech.
Pick: Mensik in 3
(30) Corentin Moutet vs. (2) Jannik Sinner
Sinner and Moutet will also be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers on Monday. They previously faced each other at the 2024 French Open, where Sinner prevailed 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1. Bidding for his second Miami title in a row (he did not play last year), the Italian coasted past Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday. Moutet earned his shot at the world No. 2 by ousting Tomas Machac 6-0, 1-6, 6-4.
This match could be somewhat of a circus. Moutet is always happy to showcase all kinds of extracurricular antics, and he probably knows that getting in Sinner’s head is his only real chance of making this match competitive. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, Sinner is about a level-headed as they come.
Pick: Sinner in 2
