PORT ARTHUR, Tx. (KPLC) – Emergency officials are responding to the Valero refinery in Port Arthur as smoke rises from the facility.
Multiple people in the area have reported hearing a loud boom that rattled their homes.

In photographs sent to 7News, a column of black smoke can be seen rising from the plant from miles away.
The refinery processes crude oil into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel at a rate of 435,000 barrels a day, according to Valero’s website.
