Man accused of shooting woman, abducting 2 children returned to Upstate to face judge

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A man accused of abducting two children after shooting a woman is expected to appear before a judge on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said Juan Carlos Morales, 30, is scheduled for bond court on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The charges stem from an incident at the Rodeway Inn on New Cut Road on the morning of March 20.
Officials said Morales shot a woman in the head, then took two children, ages 4 and 6. An AMBER Alert was issued.
Morales’ SUV was found in Towns County, Georgia. Deputies said he was taken into custody and the children were safe.(Towns County Sheriff’s Office)
Authorities said FLOCK cameras detected Morales’ vehicle in Towns County, Georgia, where he was taken into custody and the children were found safe.
Deputies said Morales waived extradited back to Spartanburg County on March 23.
