Bruins, James Hagens agree to AHL tryout deal

The Boston Bruins and top prospect James Hagens have agreed to an AHL tryout agreement for the remainder of the season.
Notably, Hagens has not yet signed his entry-level contract, which leaves the door open for him to return to Boston College next season.
“We’re very excited to have James join the Bruins organization and take this next step,” general manager Don Sweeney said in a statement. “James is an important part of our future, and this is a great opportunity for him to get immediate experience at the professional level in Providence and continue his development, while keeping all options open.”
Hagens will report to the AHL’s Providence Bruins after meeting with the media in Boston on Wednesday.
The Bruins selected the 19-year-old forward seventh overall in the 2025 NHL Draft. He had 23 goals and 47 points in 34 games as a junior to lead Boston College in scoring.
