‘Dutton Ranch’ trailer has Rip, Beth in Texas ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff

“Dutton Ranch” reveals first look photos and teaser trailer. Rip and Beth have moved to Texas.

Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) are back riding in the wildly anticipated “Yellowstone” spinoff, “Dutton Ranch,” and first-look photos and a first teaser trailer have now arrived.

But, in a huge twist, Beth and Rip have moved to Texas.

“Yellowstone” ended in 2024 after five tumultuous seasons, with the fan-favorite couple starting their next chapter on a new ranch outside Dillon, Montana.

In the new Taylor Sheridan series “Dutton Ranch” (Paramount+ on May 15), Rip and Beth must flee Montana to set up “Dutton Ranch” in South Texas.

“We’ve seen Rip and Beth for so long fighting for land that was theirs, the largest ranch in Montana,” says “Yellowstone” universe mainstay Christina Alexandra Voros, a “Dutton Ranch” director and executive producer. “Now we find them pivoting to a new frontier, beginning their new world by themselves.”

The Duttons are not entirely welcome in their new home, judging from the explosions and mayhem seen in the trailer. An exhausted Rip hands Beth a porch coffee in the trailer and mutters, “Welcome to Texas.”

The duo makes fast friends with Everett McKinney (four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris), a Navy veteran and seasoned veterinarian who treats animals with compassion yet boasts battle-tested inner steel. But there are many more foes in their new land.

“They’re looking for peace. But they learn there’s always going to be people standing in front of the peace they’re seeking,” Voros says. “Wherever the Duttons go, they find trouble.”

The Dutton opposition is led by Beulah Jackson (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening), who heads the nearby, long-standing family ranch with two trusted associates — Rob Will (Jai Courtney) and Pablo (“Narcos” star Juan Pablo Raba).

“Beulah and Beth are two strong women who have fought for their family’s ranches their entire lives,” Voros says. “There are fireworks when they come into each other’s orbit. And Beulah is a force to be reckoned with.”

In the trailer, Beth gives a veiled threat to Beulah over civil cocktails. “A legacy is a beautiful thing,” Beth says. “But only if it survives.”

The new Dutton Ranch is a fixer-upper, and the Duttons are without the Bunkhouse gang for support. However, adopted son Carter (Finn Little) is a strapping lad now and even has a girlfriend.

“This is a new beginning, the kind of heartbeat and story of the American West,” says Voros, who promises the Texas move will be explained. “Episode 1 peels the layers to show how everyone is connected.”

The new series arrives as Dutton clan member Kayce (Luke Grimes) is the focus of his own brand-new spinoff, the CBS series “Marshals” – without wife Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille), who has tragically died since “Yellowstone.” The hit procedural has already been renewed for a second season.

Outside the “Yellowstone” universe, Sheridan’s standalone series “The Madison,” directed by Voros, recently completed its run on Paramount+ with Michelle Pfeiffer’s Stacy Clyburn moving to Montana to mourn her late husband (Kurt Russell).

How to watch ‘Dutton Ranch’?

The first two episodes of “Dutton Ranch” air on Paramount Network and stream on Paramount+ on May 15 (8 ET/PT), and then weekly throughout the series’ nine-episode first season.
