Stranger Things star wants you to stop blaming Murray for Alexei’s death

Tragedy struck during Stranger Things Season 3, when Murray Bauman’s new buddy Alexei was killed in cold blood, and actor Brett Gelman wants you to stop blaming his character for the death.
Murray and Alexei enjoyed quite the rollercoaster ride during Season 3 of Stranger Things on Netflix – the mismatched duo starting out enemies, before appreciating each other’s differences, and becoming firm friends.
In Episode 7, they’re enjoying the “ugly decadence and rigged games” of a fairground, when Murray offers to get Alexei “the closest thing to food I can find.”

“I think Alexei accessed some sort of vulnerability in Murray that sent him on the course of his character arc where he did become more of a family… it was less this guy just hanging out in a bunker all by himself.”
As for Alexei’s murder, Gelman said: “It’s sad that he gets killed. Murray was very sad, because he had a negative view of this character, and then that turned around and he made a friend, and then he lost the friend, so it’s very tragic.”

But he also had a message to all the fans giving him grief for not being there in Alexei’s time of need.
“I will say one more thing though,” bemoaned Gelman. “I think a lot of fans get mad at me that I went to go buy corn dogs, and I think that’s really unfair and inappropriate.
“Like, I don’t know why you’re mad at me. He wanted a corn dog. He was hiding. I went to go get him one. I’m not the one who killed him. So give me a break guys!”
