Victoria Mboko outlasted fellow youngster and doubles partner Mirra Andreeva in three sets to book her place in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. Mboko edged ahead after a tight first set but was broken when serving to stay in the second. However, Andreeva faded physically in the decider as the Canadian wrapped up a 7-6 (4) 4-6 6-0 win.
She now faces Karolina Muchova. The Czech was in dominant form as she thrashed Alexandra Eala in the previous round. Muchova did not concede a break point as she wrapped up a 6-0 6-2 win after exactly one hour. She has now won 17 of her 20 matches in 2026.
This is a rematch of the final of the Qatar Open last month, with Muchova winning 6-4 7-5. She will be the favourite again here, but Mboko has been incredibly consistent in this first leg of the season and is worth a set on this occasion.
