Report: Miles makes Jays’ pen as roster takes shape

The Toronto Blue Jays are putting the finishing touches on their 26-player roster as they get set to open the season on Friday against the Athletics.
Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports Rule 5 Draft pick Spencer Miles has made the Jays’ bullpen. Miles’ addition indicates right-hander Chase Lee did not make the team, though the Jays do not have to officially unveil their Opening Day roster until Wednesday evening’s game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees.

Toronto selected the right-handed Miles from the Giants in December. The 25-year-old turned in a 3.72 ERA in seven spring outings, allowing four earned runs and 11 hits over 9.2 innings of work.
Lee, 27, had a 4.10 ERA in 32 games last season with the Detroit Tigers. He did not allow a run in six appearances this spring.
The Blue Jays announced over the weekend that they would not carry their other Rule 5 selection, Angel Bastardo, on the Opening Day roster, giving the Boston Red Sox the opportunity to bring him back.
Bastardo had a 4.70 ERA in seven spring outings with the Jays.
