Grab a free ride and ‘Hop Around Evanston’ this spring

Northwestern University students, faculty and staff, as well as Evanston residents and visitors, have free access to a new shuttle service this spring.

Riders can take in the restaurants, pubs and galleries on Central Street and Main Street, or visit landmarks such as the Grosse Point Lighthouse and the Ladd Arboretum and Evanston Ecology Center, each Saturday evening from April 4 to June 20.

“Hop Around Evanston” is a pilot program sponsored by Northwestern and co-hosted with the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.

Using the University’s hybrid electric bus fleet, shuttle riders can travel a loop stretching north to Central Street, south to Howard Street, east to Chicago Avenue and west to Dodge Avenue.

Whether you’re a student, employee, resident or visitor — all are welcome, said EL Da’ Sheon Nix, director of community relations at Northwestern.

“Now that warmer weather has returned, this is a great opportunity to get out and explore, check out a small business or grab a meal in one of Evanston’s many great neighborhoods.”
