Himesh Patel To Star Opposite Danielle Deadwyler In ‘X-Files’ Reboot From Hulu And Ryan Coogler

Danielle Deadwyler has found her partner for Hulu’s X-Files reboot as Himesh Patel is set to join Hulu’s reboot of the classic TV series. The show recently received a pilot greenlight at Hulu. Deadwyler is set as the co-lead in the project, from Onyx Collective and 20th Television. Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner.

Insiders close to the show say Deadwyler and Patel will be playing new original characters in the series.

Sinners filmmaker Coogler is writing and directing the pilot for the new X-Files. In it, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents —played by Deadwyler and Patel — form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.

Yale executive produces alongside The X-Files creator Chris Carter as well as Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler of Proximity Media. The company’s Simone Harris is a co-executive producer. The pilot is being cast by Sinners casting director Francine Maisler. Proximity Media’s director of development Dezi Gallegos will also help to oversee the pilot.

This summer, Patel reunites with Christopher Nolan for The Odyssey at Universal Pictures, set to premiere July 17, 2026. The film also stars Matt Damon, Mia Goth, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, James Remar, Bill Irwin, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal. He also reprises his role as Dr. Watson in Enola Holmes 3 for Netflix, starring opposite Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, and Louis Partridge.

On television, Himesh will next star in Bait, a comedy-thriller series from Riz Ahmed. He is repped by 42, WME, Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
