SpaceX rocket launch now set for Sunday from Cape Canaveral

Update: This SpaceX rocket launch from Florida has been postponed until the afternoon of Sunday, March 29.

A week after a SpaceX rocket launch from Cape Canaveral lit up the weekend, the next Florida liftoff is set for Sunday afternoon.

SpaceX is now targeting no earlier than 5:15 p.m. March 29 to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The mission is the next batch of the company’s Starlink internet satellites, titled Starlink 10-44.

If needed, SpaceX has until 9:15 p.m. to make the liftoff.

Like previous group 10 Starlink launches, this mission will follow a northeast path. Depending on timing, spectators north of Cape Canaveral may spot the Falcon 9 as it carries 29 satellites to orbit. The darker the sky, the further the rocket can be seen.

No Brevard County sonic booms are expected, as the rocket’s first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.

The FLORIDA TODAY Space Team will provide live updates beginning 90 minutes before liftoff at FloridaToday.com/Space.
