Class of 2026, 4-star PG, Mason Williams commits to Kentucky

Mason Williams has officially committed to Kentucky, according to Southside Hoops and League Ready, securing the Wildcats’ first commitment in the class of 2026. The announcement came Friday, two days after his visit to Kentucky’s campus on Wednesday, March 25.

Williams, the 6-foot-3 son of former NBA player and current Jackson State head coach Mo Williams, had initially committed to play for his father at Jackson State but reopened his recruitment in December 2025. Since then, several schools showed interest in the 4-star guard, but Kentucky was ultimately able to land his commitment.

The point guard, ranked just outside the top 100 nationally by 247Sports, is considered a top-15 point guard in the 2026 class and the No. 3 prospect in Tennessee. Rivals lists him at No. 124 overall and No. 4 in the state.

While details about his immediate playing role remain unconfirmed, Williams could follow a path similar to recent Wildcats recruit Braydon Hawthorne and redshirt his freshman season. This would allow him to acclimate to the speed, physicality, and demands of SEC basketball while preparing for a significant role in future seasons.

Kentucky is still pursuing the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 class, 5-star small forward Tyran Stokes, with many projecting his decision will come down to the Wildcats or Kansas. Landing both Williams and potentially Stokes would give Kentucky a major boost in this year’s recruiting cycle, after having zero commitments until the season ended.
