Jedward star John Grimes set to enter ‘Celebrity Ex on the Beach’ next week

Fans will be able to watch John join up with fellow celebrities including actress and model Helen Flanagan, TOWIE’s Dani Imbert and Freddie Powell from Love Is Blind.

Filmed on the Spanish island of Tenerife, the show will begin streaming on Paramount+ on Tuesday, March 31.

John shot to fame alongside his twin brother Edward when the 34-year-old duo, known as Jedward, competed on the 2009 season of X Factor, finishing in sixth place but remaining one of the most iconic acts to ever perform on the show.

Ex on the Beach follows a group of celebrities on a romantic getaway that’s repeatedly disrupted when their ex-partners arrive unexpectedly, sparking drama, rekindled relationships, and chaotic love triangles.

The line-up of exes set to upset the apple cart include Love Island veterans Curtis Pritchard and Ronnie Vint and Danielle Sellers.

John is no stranger to reality TV shows outside of X Factor having already completed a stint with Edward on Celebrity Big Brother, and of course representing Ireland at Eurovision on two consecutive occasions in 2011 and 2012.

Teaser footage from this new season shows John introducing himself to his fellow celebrities, saying: “I have been doing this for so long, this is just another adventure for me. We’ll ride this wave together. It’s going to be iconic. I can’t even surf.”

His appearance is sure to mark a shift in the nature of not just his own public image, but that of Jedward too, as both brothers have traditionally been coy and secretive about their love lives.

Speaking in some teaser footage posted on the show’s social media, John described himself as “fun, optimistic and deep”.

He added: “I’m here to possibly meet my exes or start some new flames with these other people who are single also.”

Claiming he is single because he “does not settle”, John said he is searching for an “in tune” and “surface-level person” who “knows that they want”.

Contestant Helen Flanagan has spoken ahead of the fourth season launch, expressing anxiety over which of her exes may show up.

“There are no exes that I’d be happy to see coming out of that sea,” she said in a teaser interview from the beach.

She added that the ideal partner she would hope to meet on the show would be “fit, kind and funny”, but brushed off the notion of finding true love.
