The Guardians concluded Cactus League play with an 8-2 win over the Reds.
Gavin Williams looked pretty sharp for five innings, striking out three, walking none and giving up five hits and one run. The Matt Festa, Erik Sabrowski, Connor Brogdon, and Kolby Allard group did well in relief. Angel Martinez and Kyle Manzardo homered, and Chase DeLauter and Stuart Fairchild homered.
The last spot on the roster appears to be down to either Martinez or Fairchild. Martinez has really hit well in games, but Fairchild has shown some good exit velocity also. Angel is getting first team reps, so I imagine he is winning.
Rhys Hoskins has made the Guardians’ roster. Very pleased about that.
The Guardians play at 9:40PM ET today vs. The Diamondbacks, then at 3:40PM ET on Tuesday… then the games count starting Thursday in Seattle! Expect a lot of season preview content from us before then!
