UPDATE: 10 p.m.

The Penticton Vees have won their first playoff game in the Western Hockey League, after a nail-biting game led to overtime.

The game against the Seattle Thunderbirds was tense for the first three periods, seeing both teams battle back and forth and ending regulation time with the score tied at 2-2.

Then came an overtime period.

The Vees’ Charlie Michaud was the hero of the night, finding the back of the net partway into that period, securing the win.

Now, the Vees are 1-0 in their first playoff round.

Game two is Saturday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The Vees need four wins against the Thunderbirds to secure their move to the next playoff round.
