“One of the Best in the World” – Ashton Turner Hails PSL Growth as Multan Sultans Prepare for New Era

Ashton Turner has described the Pakistan Super League as one of the leading franchise tournaments in world cricket as he prepares to lead Multan Sultans in the upcoming season, which begins on March 26.
Speaking during a captains’ media interaction, the Australian batter spoke about his experiences touring Pakistan and the environment around the league. “Firstly, particularly Australians who get the opportunity to come to Pakistan, we are so fortunate. We get looked after so well,” Turner said.
New Ownership, New Squad
Turner will captain Multan Sultans under new franchise ownership, with the team entering the season with a reshaped squad and coaching group. He said the transition period presents an opportunity for the side to establish a new identity while maintaining some continuity from previous seasons.
“The PSL is becoming one of the best competitions for franchise cricketers in the world. We have the opportunity in Multan to write the first page of our history. While there is some continuity from the previous Multan team, it very much feels like a new chapter with new ownership,” he said.
The Multan captain added that the squad overhaul and new management structure have created a positive atmosphere ahead of the tournament. “We have a new squad and a newly assembled coaching staff. It’s a really exciting time. That’s the nature of modern franchise cricket,” he added.
PSL 11 Tournament Details
The upcoming PSL season 11 will feature eight teams and run until May 3, with matches scheduled in Karachi and Lahore. The playoffs and final will be staged in Lahore, while Karachi will host the qualifier.
Turner’s Multan side will open their campaign against Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium. The Australian said he is looking forward to competing against local and international players in what he expects to be a competitive tournament.
“We’re excited. As you mentioned, there are so many talented players here in Pakistan, and being part of this competition is truly exciting,” he said.
