McAfee goes home with the WWE title after trashing Punk, lowering prices, and laying out Jelly Roll

Pat McAfee returned to SmackDown tonight (Apr. 10), supposedly with a MASSIVE SURPRISE.
After almost getting into a fight with Jelly Roll backstage, McAfee entered the ring for a lengthy talking segment. His first piece of business was to respond to CM Punk by bringing up his apology to Saudi Arabia and calling him a fraud. It’s hard to argue with Pat on that one.
McAfee went on to announce that ticket prices for WrestleMania Saturday (the night of Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes) are discounted by 25% from now through the end of Raw on Monday. This was the MASSIVE SURPRISE.
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes interrupted (after GM Nick Aldis informed him that someone higher up forbids him from laying a finger on McAfee) to rip apart of bunch of Pat’s arguments from last week, including the idea that Randy Orton somehow represents the glory days of the Attitude Era from nearly 30 years ago. He also said McAfee seemed to be enjoying the current WWE product just fine each week when he was YEETing on the commentary table.
Rhodes spoke for nearly every WWE fan when he told Pat the people want to see Randy Orton at WrestleMania, but they don’t want to see McAfee. Go home, Pat. The entire arena soon chanted that as well.
Somewhere along the way, McAfee brought up his promise (from social media last week) that he will never be seen again if Orton doesn’t walk out of WrestleMania 42 as the 15 time world champion.
As Rhodes tried to make his exit, McAfee decided to bring up Stardust. He made an AEW reference by calling Cody an “elite runaway,” and told him to go backstage to “get nice and deep in Paul Levesque’s cheeks.”
It looked like Rhodes was about to lose it, but then his attention was caught by Randy Orton, who was backstage standing over an injured Jelly Roll. Orton and Roll made their way to the ring, where the heels laid out the babyfaces.
Pat McAfee then decided to give Cody and the IWC marks what they want by finally going home, except he drove off with Cody’s WWE championship in his possession.
So, Jelly Roll is now firmly part of the WrestleMania 42 main event angle, and Pat McAfee is wearing the WWE championship over his shoulder. Yikes. But hey, at least you can go to WrestleMania Saturday to see Pat McAfee for 25% off if you act fast.
