Police in London, Ont. say they removed a body from the waters of the Thames River near the downtown core Friday morning.
Officers with the London Police Service (LPS) were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. after a citizen reported discovering what they believed to be a deceased person in the river in the area of Harris Park, police said.
Officers arrived, located and pulled the body from the river and confirmed the person was dead.
At around 10 a.m. a number of emergency vehicles remained on the scene. The investigation is in its very early stages, police said, adding they would provide more information as it becomes available.

Rivers and streams have been especially high this week after warm temperatures mixed with rain melted much of the winter’s snowpack.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is reminding residents to use extreme caution near all streams, rivers, ditches and ponds over the weekend and early into next week.
