‘Never seen anyone get knocked out and submitted’: Pros react to Alexa Grasso’s brutal finish of Maycee Barber at UFC Seattle

Alexa Grasso defeated Maycee Barber in such brutal fashion at UFC Seattle that even her fellow cage fighters were shocked.

Saturday’s co-main event ended with a brutal knockout and a little extra as Grasso floored Barber with a stunning 1-2 combination before securing a rear-naked choke on her limp opponent. The sequence was so sudden, it was unclear whether the bout was stopped due to the KO punch or the suffocating choke, and the scene was made all the more memorable due to Barber remaining on the mat for several moments after.

Fortunately, Barber was able to eventually stand on her own power, but that didn’t dull the reactions from her fellow fighters.

Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub wrote on Twitter, “I’ve never seen anyone get knocked out and submitted. Insane.”

Others were truly rattled by the devastating scene, with Josh Thomson writing, “Dude, get the camera off of her,” and Tim Elliott writing, “She dead.”
