Report: FBI responds after American Airlines flight diverted to DTW

ROMULUS, MI – An American Airlines flight diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport prompted FBI and airport police response Sunday, multiple spokespeople said.
The federal and airport police responded due to a disruptive customer, Fox 2 reported on March 29.
Flight 2819 was diverted to Detroit due to the customer, an American Airlines spokesperson said. The plane was removed from the runway per airport procedure and isolated while law enforcement investigated, Fox 2 reported.
The FBI confirmed there is no threat to the public at this time.
American Airlines expects the flight to depart DTW later Sunday afternoon, Fox 2 reported.
The flight left from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport Sunday morning heading to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, according to FlightAware. The diversion occurred shortly after 11 a.m.
It remains unclear what occurred onboard that prompted the diversion.
