When will ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ come out on Disney+?

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ trailer debuts fiery new villain
Returning heroes face a new threat with the fiery Varang (Oona Chaplin) in “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third film in James Cameron’s sci-fi franchise.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is expected to make its streaming debut on Disney+ in 2026, following what industry analysts anticipate will be an extended theatrical run for the latest installment in James Cameron’s blockbuster franchise.
The film premiered in in theaters on Dec. 19, 2025, continuing the holiday release pattern that has defined the series. While Disney has not announced a streaming date, projections are based on the studio’s previous rollout strategy for “Avatar” films.
When will ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ come to Disney+?
The prior installment, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” remained in theaters for roughly five to six months before arriving on Disney+, reflecting the studio’s strategy of maximizing box office returns before shifting to streaming. The sequel went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Because the “Avatar” franchise has historically generated lengthy and lucrative theatrical runs, analysts expect a similar window before “Fire and Ash” becomes available at home. Some industry projections place the streaming debut roughly five to six months after its theatrical premiere, though a shorter box office run could accelerate that timeline. Five to six months would line it up for a summer release on Disney+.
In the meantime, “Avatar” will be available for digital purchase on platforms like Apple and Amazon March 31.
Disney has not publicly confirmed a streaming release date.
The “Avatar” series, directed by James Cameron, remains one of the most commercially successful franchises in film history. The original Avatar and its sequel both surpassed $2 billion in global ticket sales.
