With a harsh winter finally behind us, its the perfect time to celebrate nature with Earth Day right around the corner.

Here’s everything you need to know about the holiday:

When is Earth Day 2026?

Earth Day is celebrated globally on April 22 each year to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The annual event was first held on April 22, 1970 and has since expanded to include 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

Celebrate Earth Day with these Bucks County events

You can take part in a variety of community events across Bucks County to get outside and celebrate Earth Day this year.

  • April 18, 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. — The Bucks County Audubon Society’s Wild Encounters Live gives attendees the opportunity to get up close and personal to a wide range of animals from turtles to birds of prey.
  • April 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Silver Lake Nature Center will be hosting their annual volunteer cleanup at Silver Lake Park in honor of Earth Day. Registration is required.
  • April 25, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Doylestown’s Peace Valley Nature Center is hosting a Nature Discovery Day for kids and families that includes hands-on activities that connect us to nature and inspire care for our environment.
  • Middletown Township hosts an annual Earth Day event at Core Creek Park to celebrate the holiday and educate the community on sustainability, environmental issues and more. Specific details for the date and time of this year’s event have not yet been confirmed.
