Celebrate neurodiversity on World Autism Acceptance Day

Flag raising ceremony, proclamation to take place April 2 at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall
You’re invited to join the city and community organizations as they celebrate neurodiversity during World Autism Acceptance Day.
A flag-raising ceremony and special proclamation is set to take place on April 2 at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall, where the mayor, city representatives, community members, and local partners will gather to honour the strengths, talents, and contributions of autistic and neurodivergent individuals.
“This annual observance serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of acceptance, understanding, and inclusivity, and encourages the community to work together toward creating environments where everyone can thrive,” says The Algoma Autism Foundation in a news release.
Following the ceremony at City Hall, join the Youth Wellness Hub will as it hosts afternoon activities designed to celebrate neurodiversity, promote connection, and offer fun, inclusive experiences for youth and families. Activities will include opportunities to learn, create, and engage in a welcoming, sensory-considerate space.
