Meet Rhea Perlman’s three children with estranged husband Danny DeVito – including daughter following in their footsteps
Rhea Perlman turned 78 on March 31, 2026. The Emmy award winning actress is a mom-of-three, and shares her kids with comedian Danny DeVito. While the two are no longer together, they are actively in each other’s lives.
As Rhea celebrates her 78th birthday, HELLO! takes a deep dive into her relationship with Danny and into the lives of their three children, including their daughter who is following in their footsteps.

Rhea and Danny’s early days
The actors met each other in 1971 when Rhea went to see a friend perform in the play, The Shrinking Bride, which Danny happened to also be in. Two weeks after they met, they moved in with each other. And on January 28, 1982, they tied the knot.
Soon after marrying, Rhea starred on Cheers as Carla, which she eventually won an Emmy for. While together, the actors appeared in several films together, most notably as the cruel parents in Matilda. And in 1983, Rhea and Danny co-hosted Saturday Night Live together.
In the height of their careers, the comedians grew their family. The couple welcomed daughter Lucy in 1983, Grace in 1985, and their son Jake in 1987.

Inside their separation
After 30 years together, Rhea and Danny separated in 2012, but never divorced. The couple reconciled a year later, but separated for good in March 2017. “We’re friends,” Danny told People in 2019. “We’re happy. Everybody’s happy.”
Rhea shared a similar sentiment in 2022, telling the publication: “We’re still separated, but we see each other often, and we’re still a family. We can do things together, we can do things separately. I’m really, really glad that Danny and I were able to navigate some rough days to be able to have this different kind of relationship. I think it’s pretty rare, but we agree on so many things that it makes sense.”

Lucy DeVito, 43
Like her parents, Lucy DeVito is an actress. The 43-year-old has starred in Melissa & Joey, Deadbeat, and on Broadway in I Need That. In the 2016 film, The Comedian, Lucy even appeared as her dad’s movie-daughter.
The actress is also a mom, giving birth to her first son, Carmine, in July 2024. Danny recalled the moment his daughter told her she was pregnant in an interview on The Talk, saying: “I just burst into tears.”

Grace DeVito, 41
Grace “Gracie” DeVito was born on March 25, 1985, but unlike her parents and big sister, she likes to stay out of the spotlight. Gracie got her MFA from CalArts in 2012 and lives in Los Angeles, working in the creative space.
In a 2021 interview with Cultured, she opened up about her famous parents, saying they “were really great at including [my siblings and me] in their work.” Gracie added: “There was no pressure whatsoever. It was more like they were super excited about whatever we were doing.”
In 2019, Gracie tied the knot with Andy Giannakakis. The couple keeps their relationship private.

Jacob DeViot, 38
On October 10, 1987, Danny and Rhea welcomed their youngest child, Jacob “Jake” Daniel DeVito. Jake is involved in the entertainment industry. He works as a producer and director, and recently noted to The Associated Press that his experience growing up on set with his mom and dad made him interested in Hollywood.
