Nio’s Hong Kong-traded shares surged 10% on Wednesday amid market expectations for strong delivery data and an intensive product roll-out.
The robust delivery performance was driven by its flagship premium SUV, the all-new ES8. The model completed its 80,000th delivery on March 20, taking just 181 days.
In March, the all-new ES8 saw 16,255 deliveries, securing the title of best-selling large SUV and best-selling model priced above 400,000 yuan ($58,180) in China for three consecutive months, Nio said today.
The model’s commercial success played a key role in Nio’s recent historic financial turnaround and is also expected to help it navigate the traditionally weak period.
The company achieved an operating profit of 1.25 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of last year.
Nio is preparing to enter an intensive phase of new product launches to maintain its sales momentum. The company will officially launch the 2026 editions of the ES6, EC6, ET5, and ET5 Touring on April 2.
These four updated models, collectively referred to as the “5566” lineup, will feature upgrades in design, configuration, and smart driving experiences. They target the market segment of around 300,000 yuan.
In addition, a product and technology launch event for the new flagship SUV, the Nio ES9, will be officially held on April 9.
Sub-brand Onvo will also release the 2026 edition of the L90 large SUV in late April, while another SUV, the Onvo L80, is also launching soon, Nio said.
Nio also plans to unveil a five-seat version of the ES8 in early July to sustain the large SUV’s sales performance.
The two models had previously been part of a clear plan, but were put on hold during Nio’s CBU reform early last year.
