LEAPMOTOR LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING ‘LEAP MODE’ THAT SEES C10 LEAP OVER SPEED BUMPS AND POTHOLES

  • Cutting-edge ‘LEAP MODE’ sees Leapmotor C10 effortlessly clear oncoming speed bumps and potholes for ultimate comfort
  • Powered by Leapmotor’s advanced Cell-to-Chassis EV architecture and rear motor magnetic field
  • Automatically activates below 20mph when approaching raised or sunken road surfaces
  • Designed to reduce wear, tear, and warm beverage spillages
  • ‘LEAP MODE’ will be available to download via over-the-air update from the start of April

Leapmotor has today unveiled an uplifting new feature for its C10 SUV, one that promises to change the way UK drivers tackle the nation’s most notorious road hazards.

The innovation, dubbed ‘LEAP MODE’, gently raises the C10 on an electromagnetic cushion, allowing it to float over upcoming speed bumps and potholes with serene, almost whimsical, ease.

Available from April 1st as a seamless “up in the air” update, ‘LEAP MODE’ maximises the potential of the C10’s pioneering Cell-to-Chassis electrical architecture. By harnessing the powerful magnets in the rear-mounted motor, the system creates a temporary levitation field, lifting the car by up to 20cm for a maximum of two seconds — roughly the height of an especially enthusiastic speed bump.

The feature can be activated via a dedicated icon on the touchscreen, a steering wheel shortcut, or Leapmotor’s intuitive voice assistant. Drivers simply say “C10, LEAP” — normal tone or dramatic flourish optional.

When approaching an obstacle at speeds below 20mph, ‘LEAP MODE’ automatically initiates a smooth, controlled rise, allowing the vehicle to glide over the bump or dip before gently lowering back to earth. Leapmotor engineers working on the project reported a “floating sensation”, a “noticeable reduction in coffee spills”, and one even described it as “like riding a magic carpet”.

With an estimated 42,000 speed bumps and more than a million potholes scattered across UK roads — costing drivers an average of £320 per repair — ‘LEAP MODE’ provides not only additional comfort but potential savings on vehicle maintenance…and take-away lattes.

Levi Tate, senior spokesperson for Leapmotor, said: “The ’LEAP MODE’ takes technology already built into the C10 and gives it a rather surprising new purpose. It offers smoother journeys, fewer spills, and a welcome break from the UK’s ongoing battle with road surfaces. And just like every Leapmotor innovation, it represents exceptional value.”
