State Pension, PIP and other benefits to be paid early this week before Easter

Reasons your Universal Credit may be cut by DWP

Easter falls on Sunday, April 5 this year which means scheduled benefit payments due to land in bank accounts on Good Friday or bank holiday Monday will be issued on Thursday, April 2. This includes State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Child Benefit and Universal Credit.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have all confirmed payments due on these dates – Friday, April 3 or Monday, April 6 – will be made early. DWP also said Jobcentre Plus Offices and phone lines will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, but will open as usual on Tuesday, April 7.

It’s important to be aware if your upcoming payment does not fall on either of the Easter holidays it will be paid as normal.

Below is a full list of DWP, HMRC and Social Security Scotland payments which could be affected by the Easter bank holiday weekend.

If your benefit or payment is not listed, it will not be affected by the Easter bank holiday weekend.

DWP payment dates over Easter weekend

Payments due to be made on Friday April 3 or Monday April 6 for the benefits listed below will be paid on Thursday, April 2.

  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State Pension
  • Universal Credit

HMRC payment date changes over Easter weekend

Payments due to be made on Friday April 3 or Monday April 6 for the benefits listed below will be paid on Thursday, April 2.

Payments affected:

  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian’s Allowance

Social Security Scotland payment dates over Easter weekend

Payments due to be made on Friday April 3 or Monday April 6 for the benefits listed below will be paid on Thursday, April 2.

Payments affected:

  • Adult Disability Payment
  • Child Disability Payment
  • Scottish Child Payment
  • Carer Support Payment
  • Pension Age Disability Payment
  • Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance

Social Security Scotland has confirmed Best Start Foods payments will not be affected.
