Motorists are being warned of major delays after “a serious single vehicle collison” on the M23 in West Sussex.
The incident occurred at around 05:30 GMT on Thursday and has closed the northbound carriageway between junction 10 in Crawley and junction nine Gatwick Airport.
Emergency services, including Sussex Police, are attending, according to National Highways, which also has officers at the scene assisting with traffic management.
“Due to the serious nature of the collision the road is expected to remain closed for several hours, ” said a spokesperson.
